Bering Sea Gold
This documentary series focuses on the coast of the Bering Sea in the US state of Alaska. While the small coastal town of Nome is quiet for nine months every year because the harbor is frozen over, the spirit of adventure breaks out in the summer when treasure divers from all over the world come to search for gold. The area is famous for its gold deposits, which have been washed up by glacial meltwater over millions of years. The experts search the seabed with heavy equipment and huge hydraulic suction cups. The costly expeditions are not without danger and only a few make the big bucks.
